Our skin is our largest organ and absorbs more than 60% of what goes onto it.

The majority of store-bought, commercially-produced beauty products come packed with artificial colours, fragrances, preservatives and stabilisers.  Even the most “natural” of body products I have found are still pretty toxic.

Your body’s immune system, the health of your eyes, and your respiratory system can be damaged by these chemicals and additives.  Another consequence of built-up toxin exposure from artificial skin care products is hormone imbalance. These chemicals can include synthetic hormones that negatively affect the endocrine system and can impact a women’s menstrual cycle, fertility and even hormone levels in men.  These are often called endocrine disruptors.

Healthy skin is like any other organ in your body, it continuously needs oxygen and nutrients to be brought to the cells, and for toxins to be taken away.  The skin plays an important role in the elimination of toxins.

I want to nourish my skin with skincare full of nutrients, minerals, vitamins – everything that my body needs to thrive and none of the toxins it doesn’t.

There are so many natural ingredients which can easily be made into the most beautiful natural skin care.

Almond oil has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. It makes a great carrier oil for essential oils to naturally treat skin rashes, acne or dryness.

Aloe Vera holds more than 75 potentially active ingredients including anti-inflammatories, vitamins, minerals, saccharides, amino acids, fatty acids, enzymes, lignin and salicylic acids and contains bacteria-fighting, soothing ingredients that fight inflammation, redness and itching.  It is effective for burns and wound healing, frostbite, psoriasis and cold sores. For hundreds of years aloe has been used to treat skin diseases, infections and as a natural treatment for fungal diseases in traditional Chinese medicine.

Cocoa butter is derived from cocoa beans. Cocoa Butter is a rich butter that is very beneficial for your skin.  It has antioxidants that help fight against the effects of free radicals. This natural moisturiser is a rich emollient that helps protect, hydrate and nourish dry or rough skin. Daily use of cocoa butter helps your skin retain moisture, keeping it soft and supple which also helps improve your skin’s elasticity.  Cocoa Butter helps boost the skins collagen production.  Increased collagen production along with improved elasticity helps aid in the prevention of stretch marks, making cocoa butter a popular product among pregnant women.

Coconut oil contains antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antioxidant properties. Coconut oil can help cleanse, moisturise and remove makeup. Coconut oil used internally is also beneficial.  It contains plenty of health fats that help nourish your gut and increase immune function.

Jojoba oil is extremely moisturising and can help heal burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, acne psoriasis and wrinkles. Native to the southern U.S and Mexico, this oil has been used to treat acne, psoriasis, sunburn and chapped skin for generations.  As a wax, jojoba oil is especially useful for protecting the skin, providing moisture control, and soothing the skin and hair.

Shea butter has been used as a natural skin care product in Africa for hundreds of years. It makes an excellent moisturising options for dry skin types.

Plant based Essential Oils are powerful tools that are naturally free of harmful chemical additives.  Essential oils qualify as some of the best oils for the skin due to their anti-aging properties and overall incredible beautifying effects.
